Colorado-Chicago Swap: Pavano for Pavano
Wednesday, December 1st, 2004
The Colorado Rockies and Chicago White Sox have put the finishing touches on a deal that was weeks in the making. Colorado will part with 28-year-old minor league starting pitcher Carl Pavano, while the White Sox have dealt a 5th round draft pick. "This one took a while to figure out," said the Colorado general manager. "We must have gone back to the drawing board five or six times over the past few weeks. I'm glad we finally got the deal done. I think it is a good one for both clubs."

During his career Pavano has 80 wins and 81 losses and a 4.96 ERA.
Colorado-Oakland Deal: Hamulack for Downs
Wednesday, December 1st, 2004
The rumor has been out there for a while now and today it was made official. The Colorado Rockies have sent 28-year-old reliever Tim Hamulack to the Oakland Athletics for 28-year-old minor league reliever Scott Downs.

Up to now in his career Hamulack has compiled a 7-7 mark in 185 games with 238 strikeouts and 49 walks in 191.2 innings. He has been credited with 7 saves and has a 3.57 ERA.
Montreal, Seattle Make Trade
Wednesday, December 1st, 2004
Both sides appear content with the trade finalized today that will send 25-year-old starting pitcher Bud Smith to the Seattle Mariners, while the Montreal Expos will receive a 3rd round draft pick. "This is a move that filled a few gaps in our roster," said the Expos general manager. For his part, the Mariners GM said the trade was made "in the best interest of our organization's future." BNN analysts reported that on paper the trade seemed to be a plus for both ball clubs. The players involved are expected to join their new teams for the next scheduled game.

Since joining the league, Smith has compiled an ERA of 4.33 with a career record of 41-42. He has 588 strikeouts in 739.1 innings and has held opponents to a .259 batting average.
