More Injury Problems For New York's Brad Hawpe
Thursday, July 10th, 2003
The New York Yankees announced today that first baseman Brad Hawpe will not be returning as quickly as expected from injury. "There was a bit of a setback, but nothing to be concerned about," one team official told reporters. "Brad will probably miss another 5 days because of this, but everyone expects him to make a full recovery."

In 68 games this season Hawpe has compiled a .254 batting average with 65 hits and 16 home runs. He has also scored 46 times and knocked in 42 runs.
Kapler Tags Phillies for 5 Hits
Tuesday, July 8th, 2003
5 hits in 5 at-bats. It doesn't happen every day, and when it does, it's exciting. Today Gabe Kapler of the Colorado Rockies had a sensational game against Philadelphia at Coors Field. He rifled base hits all over the ballpark in his team's 16-4 shellacking of the Phillies. In the postgame press conference he joked, "Heck, that's a week's worth of hitting for me and I did ,it all in one day. I guess I can take the rest of the week off. Right, skipper?" Gabe Kapler hit a two-run home run off Ted Lilly in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Ted Lilly in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit a three-run home run off Ramon F Garcia in the 5th and doubled in the 7th.

This season Kapler is hitting .296 with 10 home runs.
